Weekend Round Up

There were plenty of Northern lights on show this weekend as IHAAC lit up athletics events across the country.
Scottish Age Group Indoors Track and Field
The Emirates in Glasgow played host to this event and there were a number of club athletes who were in and around the medals.
Finbar Dunne is now the Scottish Indoor Champion at u15 Shot following an impressive series of throws. Craig Watts took silver in the u13 boys Shot and Lucy Massie took Bronze in u20 women 1500m. Danial Wilby was agonisingly close to a medal in the u20 shot, missing out by just 6cm.
All coaches expressed their delight at the early season form being shown and the constant hard work and improvement shown by the clubs athletes.
Nairn 10k and 5k Fun Run
The spring road season got underway with the popular Nairn 10k and 5k fun run. A large group of club athletes enjoyed a fresh but dry day without too much wind to blow away any chances of PBs. Jenny Bannerman built on her excellent winter form with a win in the ladies race in a time of 35.43. Gordon Lennox finished 2nd in 33.08 with Michael O’Donnell 7th in 34.35. There were some great runs across the field with Averil Geddes making her debut in gold and maroon and securing a 10k PB in the process. There were also a number of 5k PBs by the juniors in the fun run.
