Track and Field Update – Officials Course, Scottish Schools, Indoor Shot Putt and Indoor Facilities

February Update

TRACK AND FIELD OFFICIALS COURSE – 7th March

Saturday 7th March – Track & Field officials course. The club is in need of volunteers to ensure that they have the requisite number of officials to fulfil their commitments in the forthcoming season. There will be a training course in order to bring volunteers up to Level 2 standard, no previous officiating experience is required. If you are interested in this free course please contact Charlie Forbes to register your interest.

INDOOR SHOT PUTT COMPETITION – 14th March

Duncan Flockhart is organising an Indoor Shot Putt competition on Saturday 14th March at Inverness Leisure. The competition is £3 to enter and Duncan is looking for entrants to let him know in advance if they wish to compete. The competition runs from 12-3pm. Contact Duncan for more details.

SCOTTISH SCHOOLS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE

A number of the clubs athletes were in action at the Emirates for the Scottish Schools Indoor Championships. George Evans competing for Strathallan won Gold in the Over 16 Shot Putt with a Championship records throw of 18.30m.

Also making the medal table were Andrew Mcfarlane (Silver u16 Pole Vault), Daniel McFarlane (over 16 Pole Vault Silver) and Andrew Smith (Over 16 200m Bronze). Other notable performances came from Arianne Ross who ran a PB in the Over 16 1500m final running a sub 5 min for the first time. Finbar Dunn (shot putt) and Ross Freck (200m) also put in strong performances.

NO INDOOR FACILITIES FOR 2 WEEKS

Due to the laying of a new floor at Inverness Leisure the club does not have any indoor facilities for the next 2 weeks. It is hoped that indoor facilities will be available form 25th February onwards.
