BIGGEST NUMBERS IN CLUB HISTORY TURNOUT FOR XMAS RELAYS

76 runners turned out for the annual Xmas relays today making it the biggest turnout the club has had for this fun event.

Although it’s a chance for the runners to relax and enjoy the day it turned out to be a closely fought encounter with only 48 seconds covering the first 5 teams.
The honours this year went to team Spider-Man with Stroma Fraser,Grace Macdonald,Eve Gardiner and team captain Alex Geddes taking 1st place in a time if exactly 30 mins,2nd place went to team 2 of Lee Ross,Euan Rollo,Catriona Garvie and Ben Johnstone(30.08 mins) with team 15 of Beth Hewick,Rachel Johnstone,Keith Geddes and Helge Hansen(30.36 mins) taking 3rd place.

There were some great individual lap times with Finlay Raynor winning the small lap(800 mtrs) in 3.08,lap two(1mile)went to Andrew Johnstone(5.43) lap three(1 mile) went to Emily Andrew(6.30)and the long lap(2 miles) went to Finlay Maclennan (12.01)

It was a great day enjoyed by all and a lot made the effort!!! to come along in fancy dress where it was a family double of Fiona Mackay and Peter Marwick winning the hugely contested fancy dress titles this year.

Many thanks to all who turned up to make it a great event and a big thanks to Mary Payne,Janis Wilby and Grant Nairn for the time keeping and keeping the athletes running in order and to Charlie Bannerman for working out all the split times and for helping me to sort out the teams at the start and a big thanks to the ladies for making the teas after the race.
