North District XC League match – Thurso

Despite the very challenging conditions in Thurso yesterday, Inverness Harriers came back down the A9 having secured another eight of the ten available age sections. Team wins at U11 boys and girls, U13 boys and girls, U15 boys and girls and senior men and women were backed up by a second place for the U17 mens team. Unfortunately I don’t have individual performance details to hand (they will be available on the league website soon) but… there were some excellent performances throughout the gold and maroon field.

Special mention to Lee Ross for rushing up the A9 when she wasn’t sure if we had a full counting ladies team. Real team spirit, especially when she had to head back sharp to join the joggers 30th birthday celebrations. Cheers Lee! In the end there were 8 hardy ladies – Cat, Julie, Alison, Caroline, both Joannas, Lee and Lisa – in the IH ladies squad conquering the “tough mudder” style course

The mud, bog, wind and cold made yesterday one of the more extreme days out I’ve had with the Harriers so I’d like to say a massive ‘well done’ to all those that battled their way around the Caithness course. A big thank you to all the coaches, assistants and helpers who made sure the trip went without incident, especially Alison for organising a brilliant chippy pitstop in Golspie on the way home. Also many thanks to the hardy parents who made the trek up to Thurso to cheer the team on, it was much appreciated. And finally, thanks to Claire and her colleagues at Caithness Athletics Club for another cracking day out in the north (maybe a wee bit warmer next time though, eh?!

Lost and Found – Thurso XC

The following is a list of kit items found on the bus on return to Inverness from Thurso. I’ll take them down to the club hut on Tuesday, so if you or your sprog left something let me know and I’ll see if I have it. It would help the coaches a great deal if all athletes had their names printed somewhere on their kit.

1) Under Armour long sleeve base layer – black – size YLG?…
2) Nike long sleeve top with half- zip- navy – size small
3) Ronhill running jacket – black – size small (had 10p in pocket)
4) Asics trainers – black with black laces – size 24.0cm/US 5.5/Euro 38.0
5) Under Armour running leggings/tights – black – size YMD
6) Tesco F+F jogging bottoms – black with grey waist drawcord – size 12/13yrs
7) Nike water bottle – clear with black rubber grips
8) Camelback Podium water bottle – clear with white/mauve detailing

Jodi Sharpe, I have Zoe’s black jacket and will take it down with me on Tuesday. Bonus point for putting her name on it! (although Zoe loses the point for forgetting the jacket)
