North District Cross Country Championships – Nairn

nairn xc river

Good luck to all the club athletes who will make the short trip to Nairn for the North District Cross Country Championships tomorrow.  There are 68 athletes registered to compete, the highest total in many years, possibly ever.  The club has a great chance of individual and team honours with a strong team line up across all  the age groups except u20 women.

The course in Nairn is always a tester with the sand, mud and water crossings making running rhythm difficult to attain.  This will suit the clubs runners who have been training hard in the XC and Club Handicap series.

The Senior ranks boast 27 confirmed runners with 11 ladies and 16 men confirmed as starting.  This is a giant stride forward from 4 years ago when the women had only 3 counters and the men failed to complete a 6.  It is testament to the great atmosphere at the club with a real sense of  team spirit, friendship and enthusiasm among all the senior athletes.

The weather looks much better for tomorrow and forecasters are predicting a flurry of medals heading in the Inverness direction just before tea time.

Race times are as follows;
U13 GIRLS – 1130
U13 BOYS – 1145
U15 GIRLS – 1200
U15 BOYS – 12.20
U17/U20 GIRLS – 12.35
U17/U20 MEN – 1250
SENIOR WOMEN – 1310
SENIOR MEN – 13.30
