Moray 10k and 3k

A fine squad of “athletes” made the short trip along the A96 to Elgin where Moray Road Runners provided a cracking couple of events and superb after race spread of cakes. In the 3k Lucas Cairns had a great run to finish 5th in a time of 11.26. There were also great runs from all the other “youngsters” Rachel Johnstone, Ana Macpherson, Anna Cairns and Julie Wilson!

In the 10k, the club were missing a number of their top male and female runners but nevertheless managed to assemble a men’s squad which had as little pace and athletism as it had good looks and birthdays in the 1980s. Despite having the look of a retirement home fancy dress party who had stumbled into Cooper Park to feed the ducks, the men’s trio of Tim Cooke (6th, 1st v40), Ross Nixon (9th) and Tom McWilliam (13th) were just pipped to the team prize by MRRs . Fortunately, the female team had talent and glamour in equal measure which made up for the IHAAC men’s squad. Caroline Marwick had a great run to finish 2nd in windy conditions. Also competing were Doreen Campbell, Joanna Cairns and Lisa Macrae. Club newcomer James Dickson had a good run at 42.52 and in the battle of the soon to be septuagenarians, Alex “2 vests” Sutherland had an age defying run of 43.02 to beat Timothy Kirk who had a 44.42.

Great to see so many Gold and Maroon vests supporting local events.
