Combined Events success for Nelson and Mcfarlane Brothers

Congratulations to Anna Nelson who picked up a Silver medal in the under 20 indoor heptathlon at the Scottish Combined Events Championship on Saturday 1st March. There was also success for Andrew and Daniel Mcfarlane as both brothers won bronze medals at the Championships held at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. Andrew was competing in the under 16 age group whilst Daniel went in the under 18s. These performances are made all the more special as both boys are at the young end of these groups having only recently entered these age categories.
Following Saturdays success, Andrew was given a guest slot in the Scottish Masters Pole Vault championship on Sunday. During this competition Andrew beat the Scottish National under 15 record with a vault of 3m 40cm. Although Andrew jumped the height the club are still awaiting ratification of the record due to nature of the competition in which the vault took place. However, even if Sundays vault is deemed unofficial, Andrew repeated the height at tonight’s open graded meeting in Grangemouth and club officials are confident that one of the vaults will see Andrew confirmed as the new National U15 Pole Vault record holder, beating the record held by leading Senior Scottish athlete Jax Thoirs. Excellent performances, well done.
