Legion of Honour

Many congratulations to Stephen MacKenzie who won the British Legion Trophy for the top performance by a boy athlete at today’s North of Scotland Schools championships at Queens Park.
Stephen consolidated his fourth place in the UK under 17 triple jump rankings with an effort of 13.58m which is also a PB. In addition, he cleared 1.85m also to win the high jump and came incredibly close to 1.90. Then in the 200m he had another PB of 22.88 for second place in a race where nine years out of 10 this would have been a winning time.
Ironically, when he goes to Saturday’s Scottish Schools’ pentathlon championships at Grangemeouth, the five events include neither the TJ nor the HJ… but don’t worry! The jump is the LJ where he has already got another PB of 6.52 for third place in the Scottish U17 rankings.
