Harriers U13 Boys take National Silver Medalists.

Report by Ross Cairns

Perfect conditions in Greenock brought out excellent performances in a flat 2.5k to 5k course.

Our U13B started the day off in some style by winning a National Silver Medal and were superbly led home by Duncan MacDonald (10th), Lucas Cairns nursing tonsillitis all week bravely ran and finished 20th for the team and 2nd counter. Newly joined brother Finn Rutter (21st) and Angus Rutter (25th) completed the winning team. All of them within the top 25. The boys missed out to Giffnock North by only 4 points. Both teams played a football match after the race – we won!

Next up were the U15 Girls who put in a superb performance with Emily Andrew a fantastic 10th and Rebecca Johnstone 21st. They ran strongly and held those position for a number of laps.

Final race of the day for the Harriers was U15B who carried on the top 25 placings with Craig Wilson and Ben Johnstone putting in strong performances to come down the final straight sprint together and finish Craig Wilson 21st and Ben Johnstone 23rd.

Overall it was like Team North of Edinburgh inter districts XC all over again with an excellent day for the North with Anna MacFadyen Forres Harriers taking 2nd in the U17W, Constance Nankivell East Sutherland 4th in the same race, Ben Cameron Forres Harriers 5th in U13B, Lauren McCulloch 6th U17G, Rhiannon Kirk 8th North Highland Harriers U17G.

Thanks to all the parents for supporting this event. Really excellent day to be a Harrier and also a North athlete.
