Jodie Shines in the Big Apple

new york andy and jodie

A huge congratulations to Jodie Lynch, Liz Gray and Andy Beaton for completing this years New York Marathon.

Jodie had an outstanding run smashing her PB and the female club record with a superb time of 3.05.39.  Jodie only started running competitively a short time ago and has exceeded her highest running expectations with this performance.  According to a source close to Jodie, the run, which featured 18 sub 7 minute miles, was tough but enjoyable.  Amazingly, despite Jodie suffering a potentially serious injury, a detached shellac toe nail extension, in mile 25 she soldiered on to finish 67th female overall and top UK female finisher.  As a mark of respect to New York and the USA in general, according to Jodie she will be walking like John Wayne for the next while.

Andy Beaton made the long trip the the States, however he has been suffering a hip injury for some time and therefore used the 26.2 mile route as a site seeing excursion in order to prevent further damage.  Andy has had a hard year of ultra events including the Edinburgh to Ben Nevis Triathlon but has vowed to return to full training soon.

Club legend Liz Gray completed yet  another marathon.  The council will be reinstating the lamp post outside Liz’s house if she carries on running like this having completed the New York course in 4.25.05.

A massive congratulations to all of you.
