MORE GOOD NEWS FROM BIRMINGHAM

Day two of the British Championships and World Championship trials in Birmingham has produced further headlines for Inverness Harriers’ top athletes Kirsty Law and Jamie Bowie.

Kirsty took a silver medal in the discus with a throw of 52.75m in what turned out to be well adrift of winner Jade Lally and over five metres ahead of the bronze medallist Samantha MIlner. As a result she was never in and danger either of winning gold or or losing silver. Her effort is just 2.25m short of the Commonwealth Games qualifying distance of 55.00m which she will hopefully achieve twice before June 8th next year.

Day 2-Following his presonal best of 46.31 sec to win Friday evening’s heat, Jamie was in sparkling form again when he won his semi final from lane six in 46.51 secs.

Day 3-Jamie came a tremendous 5th place in the 400m Final with another club record of 46.11 secs the only time he has ever run faster was in the heats where he also broke the club record
