IHAAC-CROSS COUNTRY PRIZE GIVING 2013

The Club had their annual Cross Country Prize Giving on Saturday night which was attended by over 110 members and family who all enjoyed a good evening of food,fun and ice skating (for those brave enough)and also a good helping of trophies handed out to some old campaigners but more encouraging to a lot of new faces in the junior and senior age groups aswell.The main trophies were handed out by invited guests councilor Glynis Sinclair and also by Club Official Mary Payne who presented the Club with a new trophy in memory of her late husband Roy Payne who was a time keeper for the Club for many years who passed away sadly last year.Trophies this year were given out for the Club Championships in all age groups along with the Road Race Championships held over the 5K Fun Run course during theĀ Inverness Half Marathon and also the keenly contested junior and senior Club Handicap series which are run over 5 races amassing points for each race this year the winners were for the seniors were Fiona Mackay for the women and Kenny Steele for the men and the junior winners were Beth Maciver and Alex Geddes for the girls and boys.The Mary and Walter Banks Trophies which are presented for the best individual performance by a senior man and women were won this year by Mhairi Maclennan for the first time and Sean Chalmers who also won it last year aswell,the winners of the new Roy Payne Memorial Trophies which were presented by Mary Payne for the best individual performance by an U15 boy and girl went to Lauren Fraser and to Scott Lisle,all four winners received the trophies for their performances at the National Cross Country Championship in Falkirk earlier in the year.Many thanks to all the people who helped organise a great night and to Charlie Bannerman for his summary of the cross country season.Now with the cross country season over all eyes turn to the summer season which starts this sunday(31st March)with the Inverness Open Meeting at Queens Park which starts at 10am with registration opening at 8.30am.
