Inter District Cross Country

There was great success for the club in Edinburgh at the weekend with too many great individual and team performances to mention. The club Facebook page is packed with great photos and accounts of the days racing success. Here are a few posts;

Ross Cairns – “What a 36 hours that was! Just home and on behalf of all the off field team a big thank you to everyone down today and back home for your effort and encouragement that has made today a success for all the North athletes competing today and for the rest of the team back home. How good was that! Big thank you to Sophie Dunnett for the guidance and opportunity to provide such a big off-field support to the team. Too many highlights to mention but was it not great that we walked away with what I am hearing is our first U13B Silver medal in a race where if I have it right five of our North clubs were represented as the counters for that Silver. Long may that continue. Well done all! ”

Sophie Dunnett – “Some results. Bronze medals for all junior teams except U13 boys who gained silver medal. individual silver for Sean Chalmers, and Mhairi Maclennanand third for Anna Macfadyen.Well done to everyone wearing red”

Keith Geddes – “Great day had by all at the Inter District XC match at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh today Harriers athletes taking a grand total of 16 team medals and two individual medals in Mhairi Maclennan with a silver in the senior women’s race and Sean Chalmers a hard fought silver in the senior men’s race.
Well done to all the athletes for making the long journey and doing the club proud and many thanks to all the parents for their support throughout the day and a big thanks to Ross Cairns,Alison Wilson and Grant Nairn team management at the event”

Grant Nairn – “Well, what a day yesterday proved to be in Edinburgh! It was a real joy to see the red vests of the North through all the fields in all age groups. Hopefully yesterday was the start of an increased confidence in our abilities up here in the north and a belief in being able to ‘mix it up’ and play decisive roles in the inter-district races.

I managed to take a few – well, almost two and a half thousand! – photos yesterday, between the Inter-districts and the internationals. It will take a wee while to sort through them, but I’ll try and get a first batch of North athletes posted over the next couple of days. Better go and fire up the computer!”
