More news back from the Scottish Senior Championship brings added success for club athletes.

High jump title for Rachael Mackenzie. The Inverness Harriers athlete won it with a 1.75 clearance which was a very fine performance indeed in appalling weather conditions. ‘I won the indoor title for 2014 so it is great to make it a double,’ said Rachael. ‘I am very pleased with 1.75 in that wind and rain, I’ve surprised myself. It is difficult between jumps and there’s a chance you rush things. I’d one attempt at 1.80 which wasn’t too bad but there was no need to carry on.’

Also in the medals was Adam Hobson who secured a silver in the javelin with a cracking throw in awful conditions.

UPDATE – Stephen Mackay secured a hard fought Bronze in today’s 800m final at Senior National Champs in a tactical race with a time of 1:57.84.

Some superb running by 16 year old Andrew Smith saw him secure silver in the 400m in another PB of 49.27s, Adam Hobson showed his all round abilities by finishing 5th in that final.

Well done to all the athletes competing for the club.
