Inverness Harriers Men’s Team moved to the top of the Scottish Division 2 with a match victory at Grangemouth on Sunday (May 19th). An extremely young team took first place on the day by 14points from Giffnock with the first match winners Arbroath 3rd. This leaves the team 1point clear in the league from Arbroath with Giffnock now 3rd.

Individual events winners on the day were Eoghan Macnamara and Chris Mollison in the triple jump and Adam Hobson and Drew Spark in the javelin. Other top performances came from Craig Cameron (100m and long jump), Sam Freck (100m/200m), Harry Barton & Ben Nelson(400m), Donnie Macdonald and Craig Campbell (5000m), Stuart Michael (800m and 1500m), Alex Thorne (300msc and 400h),  and Andrew Smith (200m). Both relays teams also provided hugely successful with a 2nd in the 4x400m and 3rd in the 4x100m.

Our thanks must go to Mary Payne, David Smith and Karin Smith as our officials. Without them the team could not compete and achieve the success they are currently enjoying. A further thanks must also go to Ali Cameron would drove the minibus from Inverness and provided much needed support for the team on the day.

Finally congratulations to Eoghan Macnamara for his organising of the team for this event and his motivating skills on the day. Eoghan competed in 3 events plus a relay while also managing the team and therefore deserves the greatest thanks from the whole club.

The next match is again in Grangemouth on July the 1st. Hopefully a strong team can be assembled to maintain the brilliant successes already being achieved!
