Big well done to Stephen Mackay for a storming 800m at the Gothenburg Games. Stephen took a massive chunk of his PB with a new PB of 1min 50.77secs to lift the bronze medal which was the only medal coming to Inverness this year from the games. Stephen also had a PB in the 1500m with a 3min 57.52secs. Paula Gass came next close to a medal with a throw of 43.71mtrs finishing 4th overall. There were 14 PBs in all with many fine performances by others competing for the first time in The Games. PBs as follows …..Keiran Barnsby 80mtrs 9.64secs and 300mtrs 38.70secs, Calum Tynan 300mtrs 38.44secs and 80mtrs 9.92secs. Ross Fraser in the 100mtrs 11.90secs. Paddy Dunne 100mtrs 12.33secs and200m 24.73secs. Paul Wilby long jump 3.78mtrs. Ruaridh Gray Hammer 49.47mtrs. Matt Macfarlane 35.07mtrs. Finbar Dunne discus 31.74mtrs. And FionaFlockhart in the javelin (400gms) 27.51mtrs. Although not a PB Alex Nicolson managed a 6.07mtrs long jump. All in all it was another successful trip and athletes coped very well competing in very hot conditions with temperatures reaching 32 deg at its hottest point.
