DOUBLE DANISH DEBUT FOR JENNY

Jenny Bannerman has gained her first international selection in what will be her first 13.1 mile race as part of the three woman Scottish team at the Lillebealt Half Marathon in Denmark on May 7th.
Jenny’s selection follows her silver medal (58:42) in the Scottish 10 mile championship on April 10th where she was the first Scottish finisher behind Fionnuala Ross of Northern Ireland.
Within the last few months she has come close to Scottish selections for the Armagh 3K and the Leeds Abbey Dash 10K and now makes her debut at this new distance.
This comes at a time of great success for the club’s distance runners with Mhairi MacLennan gaining her first senior cross country selection in March while Sean Chalmers won the Celtic under 23 cross country international in January and narrowly missed a GB European under 23 place.
Also in the Scottish 10 mile championships, John Newsom was fourth in the men’s race, missing a medal by just 35 seconds in 51:45 and Sarah Liebnitz was ninth in the women’s in 62:06.
Jenny’s selection also means a change to her race schedule since she was originally due to compete in the Scottish 5K championship in Edinburgh on May 6th but will now miss that event.
However she will still race over 5K at Run Balmoral on April 23rd where she will be joined by fellow Scottish silver medallist, 800m specialist Stephen MacKay, while John and Sarah tackle the 10K.
