CLUB MAKES CROSS COUNTRY HISTORY – update by Keith Geddes

A little piece of history was made yesterday for the Harriers as the Club finisheded its last XC fixture at Forres and after all the number crunching had been done by the officials it was then apparent that the Club had achieved an incredible feat of winning 9 of the 10 North District Cross Country League team titles over the course of the winter season.

The club managed to win 7 of the 8 junior age group titles up to U17 level only failing to win the U17 Womens and also retained the Senior Men and Womens titles to make it up to the 9 out of 10 titles available.

Building on the team success it was one of the best individual medal hauls for some time achieved by the Club with 21 medals travelling from the east of Scotland consisting of 7 District Champions,7 silver medalists and 7 bronze medals see names of medalists below-

GOLD-U11 Boys Lachlan Buchannan,U13 Girls Catriona Garvie,U15 Boys Kieran Chalmers,Senior Women Sarah Liebnitz,Senior Men John Newsom,Female 40 Julie Wilson,Male 40 Paul Miller and Male 50 Alec Keith

SILVER-U11 Girls Zoe Sharpe,U13 Girls Kirsty Arnaud,U15 Girls Megan Keith,U15 Boys Mackenzie Brown,U17 Men James Geddes,Senior Men Gordon Lennox and Male 50 Steve Steven Worsley

BRONZE-U11 Boys Eoin Black,U13 Girls Rachel Johnstone,U15 Girls Emily Andrew,U15 Boys tied for bronze Ben Johnstone and Craig Wilson,U17 Men Aidan Wilson and Female 40 Alison Craig Wilson

I would like to thank all the officials and parents for giving up their time to help getting the athletes to all the races but a huge thanks must go to all the coaches involved throughout the winter season in the time and effort given to the athletes to help them in achieving such a tremendous season and achievment for the Club.
