There was a great turn out for todays first club handicap of the winter season.  Temperatures of 18 degrees accompanied by a 60 mph wind made for some challenging running conditions.  The juniors kicked off with the Whin Park loop – results to follow.

The Seniors took on the 4.2 mile Holm loop and the race was preceded by a minutes applause to remember George Mitchell, club handicap favourite who sadly passed away recently.

There were some great performances and some good handicapping with 13 of the races 22 starters finishing within 60 seconds of each other.

The race was won by 70 year old Charlie Jarvie who ensured that his handicap will be scrutinised thoroughly before the next race on 8th November. First lady and 2nd across the line was Donna Bannerman with Jenny Bannerman claiming the fastest scratch time of 24.50.

Next race is the Craig Dunain Handicap on Sunday 8th November.
