Club gearing up for Scottish Mens League

senior men team

Sundays National Cross Country Championships brought to a close the clubs most successful Cross Country Season ever with numerous team and age group champions, as well as a significant number of podium finishes across the league and championship races.  Traditionally many senior athletes now revert to road and hill racing during the summer months but now is the time to start considering how you can help the clubs Senior Scottish Mens League team.

As many are aware the club is now part of the Scottish Mens League after an absence of almost 20 years.  In the past 2 seasons, whilst the IHAAC team have enjoyed some success, many valuable points have been lost as a number of events have not had participants. These events include most throw events, 400m hurdles, 3000m Steeplechase, 5000m and 10,000m.  With the expansion of the club and the buoyant atmosphere, it would be great to see as many of the successful XC seniors taking to the track to support the track and field athletes.  It would be great to see all events covered this season and show the rest of Scotland the talent that IHAAC has across the senior age range.  Points are accumulated based on achieving the minimum time or distance for the event so the team can potentially benefit from an athletes performance regardless of what position they finish as long as the standard is achieved.

This season sees the club hosting a league meeting (14th June) and the potential to use this for the development of the club and it’s athletes is huge.
