On 6th June Charlotte Hill will be running in the 10km for the Inverness Harriers in the town of Longyearbyen high up in the arctic island of Spitzbergen.  Lonyearbyen is only 500miles from the North Pole and home to a population of 2000 residents and 3000 polar bears.   Due to this the course is patrolled by armed guards.  The temperature at that time of year is between 0 and 6 degrees with 24 hours of sunlight. The town is a staging post for expeditions to the North Pole.
