Busy Weekend of Action

This weekend sees athletes take on a number of big occasions. On Sunday, the gold and maroon will be seen flashing through London as a number of seniors take on the London Marathon.  Club newcomer Gordon Lennox is hoping for a time close to 2.30! Ladies trio of Jackie Mair, Alison Wilson and Roma Shepherd will be looking for a slightly slower time than Gordon but after months of training, they can’t wait to run, finish and get onto the cocktails! Good luck to everyone making the long journey to run And support.

Other races with a club involvement are the Run Balmoral Festival with a 5k and 10k in the grounds of the historic castle.  More locally there is the Portmahomack Lighthouse 10k which always produces quick times.

For the tougher ones in the club there are two enjoyably brutal offerings. The Glen Affric Duathlon returns after a few years break and club Monty Burns look-a-like winner Donnie Macdonald should be in with a good chance of lifting the title.

For the total maniacs among the club, the Highland Mountain Marathon offers 2 days of hill running, mud, bad weather and freeze dried food, what’s not to like?!!!

Best of luck to everyone

If you’re not competing be sure to support the Gothenburg athletes by attending the fund raising coffee morning at the Old High Church Hall on Academy Street (beside Farmfoods) between 8.30 and 2pm.
