Another Weekend of Quality Club Performances

It was another busy weekend for Club Athletes with Gold and Maroon vests on show in London, Kilmarnock and Edinburgh.

MENS LEAGUE – Saturday saw Inverness Harriers compete in the Mens League Division 2 meeting at Kilmarnock.  The mens team have been resurrected this season  thanks to some great organisation by some of the clubs younger athletes.  The team performed exceptionally well and finished 2nd behind Arbroath.  The team are looking for a 110 hurdler, a 3000m steeple chaser and another 5000m runner to bolster the squad, this would greatly increase their chances of winning the league.  If you are interested in competing and can achieve the League Standard times (click here for details)  then contact Sam Freck or Eoghan MacNamara.  Well done lads.  Full results are available HERE

The team were very thankful of the contribution made by Alister Cameron, Mary Payne, David Smith and other volunteers who represented the club in an official capacity, without them the team could not have competed.

LONDON MARATHON - Paula Ross completed the 26.2 mile course round the streets of London in 3.33.42.  Paula had a great time and said there appeared to be slightly more spectators lining the route than there were at Lochaber last week. Paula was delighted with her performance and despite 2 marathons in 7 days she was still able to fit in another training session down Oxford Street with her “coach” Jackie Mair.

SCOTTISH WOMENS LEAGUE - Inverness Harriers Women made the journey down the A9 to Edinburgh’s Meadowbank Stadium for the first meeting in the 2013 Womens Athletics League.

There were some great performances from the entire squad.  Anna Nelson competing in her first ever 400 hurdles finished 2nd in 66.01 then won the B string High Jump then capped the day off with a 3rd place in A string 100m hurdles. Outstanding performance.  Jenny Bannerman finished 4th in the 1500 metres and Mhairi Maclennan finished 4th in the 3000 metres. Arianne Ross was 2nd in the B 800m, Katie Sneddon was 6th in the 400m, Elleanor was 6th in 100m, Jenny Will was 4th in B 400m hurdles and Gillian Gordon was 4th in 200m.  The ladies also finished 3rd in the 4x400metres.  Well done girls – full results will be posted when available.
