North District X-Country Championships

It was another successful day for the Inverness Club at the North District Championships In Evanton on Saturday(24th)with 10 individual medals and 6 team medals coming back to Inverness,leading the way was Zoe Romaine who continued her good league form with a fine run to take 3rd place in the U13 girls race and also a team medal with team mates Josie Steele(7th)and Catherine Macinnes(10th)helping to secure a bronze medal.
In the U13s boys race Joe Arnaud took gold in the individual race to take his first District Title and with the help from team mates Connor Romaine(12th)and Craig Wilson(13th)managed a silver medal in the team race.There was no team medal for the U15 girls who only had 2 runners in the race Elyn Marwick(16th)but Lauren Fraser took 1st place in the individual race and awell deserved gold medal,in the U15s boys race it was dominated by the boys who had 5 boys in the top 8 finushers with Scott Lisle winning a silver medal and Luke Shaw taking bronze and James Geddes taking 4th place to help win the gold medal for the team event.
There was only one representative in the U17 mens race with Finlay Maclennan doind well to take 5th place,in the U17 womens race Heather Campbell won a bronze medal in the individual race with Arianne Ross(6th)and Carey Ross(7th)helping to secure a gold medal in the team event.Stuart Michael was the lone runner in the U20 mens race but still managed to secure a bronze medal in the individual race.The senior ladies had another good day with Roma Shepherd taking individual bronze and with the help of Alison Wilson and Julie Wilson they managed to win gold in the team event,Roma also added the Womens Masters title in the individual race with Alison Wilson taking 3rd place and also taking the Masters gold medal aswell.
In the mens race Joe Symonds won the gold medal but being only 2nd claim for Inverness it meant that he could not count towards the team placings but the men still managed a great team performance to finish in bronze position behind Forres and Moray Road Runners and also secured the Masters gold with Andy Macrae(4th)Paul Miller(6th)Alex Keith(7th)Ross Nixon(9th)Stewart Wilson(12th)and Tom McWilliam(18th)all putting in another strong performance to end a good day.It was another great day for team Inverness with so many medals coming home on the bus with some great individual and team performances which was very pleasing for coaches Stephen Graham,Laurie Maciver and Grant Nairn who did another great job in looking after the athletes on saturday.
