Harriers enjoy North District XC Success

12_Ross Nixon at Elgin XC

There was a fantastic turnout of Harriers across the age groups for todays NDCCC at Evanton. The technical forest course did not deter athletes of all ages from producing excellent performances. The course was a great mixture of all types of terrain and was “enjoyed” by the vast majority of runners. There were indivdual and team medals throughout the junior age groups (full details to follow).

In the Senior races Joe Symonds won the Senior mens race by a distance from Forres’ Kyle Grieg and Gordon Lennox, but regretabbly due to SAL rules was unable to count in the Harriers team counters. Also, Donnie MacDonalds injured calf meant a depleted male squad took to the start line however 13 senior counters started, the highest number in many years. The Senior Men took Gold in the Masters and Bronze overall with Grant Hassan overhauling Dave Cummings of HHR in a sprint finish and Tom MacWilliams finishing strongly to secure the all important points.

The senior women however eclipsed their male counterparts winning both the overall and the Masters team golds. Roma Shepherd, Alison Wilson and Julie Wilson took the places and were backed up all the way by Paula Ross. Well done ladies. Results, reports and photos will be on the website as soon as possible.
