Due to flooding on the course, the senior club cross country championships scheduled for Sunday (24th January) have had to be postponed and will now take place in conjunction with the final North League race at Forres on Saturday 13th February. There WILL be a final hidden handicap this Sunday over an amended course with all runners starting off scratch at 2pm approx. Fiona Mackays super computer will work out the deductions and announce the winners afterwards.

The age group club championships including the under 17 races will go ahead as scheduled on Sunday.

The normal arrangements apply – entries at the Queens Park at 1pm, first junior race 1:30pm and the senior race as soon as possible thereafter.

Health and Safety Brief – The course has been set and is in great condition however due to significantly low temperatures there are areas of the course that are rutted and icy with small pockets of frozen mole hills in the fields.  I will be out early on Saturday morning to break up and salt any areas of ice on the main path between Point E and F and around Point B. Runners should be aware of the potential slippy conditions, particularly around Point B and between Points E and F and should run on the grass verge and avoid the middle of the path at these points. Conditions are likely to improve in the morning but some ice may still be present. This is obviously particularly important to junior runners. Anyone walking the course can assist by removing any hazardous branches, mole hills or debris from the course.

Toilets – Due to renovation work, The Dores Inn is closed and therefore the only Toilets are at the Race HQ at the Dores Parish Hall.

Roadworks – There are 2 sets of roadworks, 1 at Tesco Dores Road and one set at the Ness Side Lodge on the main road. Please allow and extra 10-15 minutes on your journey.

Parking – Conditions may be icy so take care. Parking is at The Parish Church opposite the start/finish, at The Dores Inn and around the village. Please park responsibly and respect the local residents. Officials, Marshalls and helpers can park in the field at the start/finish area. There is no parking at the Race HQ at the Parish Hall.

Important Notes
(1) The Women’s Races and the Men’s 65 and over races will be run together.
(2) Teams are Women 3 to score, Men 4 to score
(3) 1st Team medals will be awarded for combined Men M50, M55, M60 – 3 to score.
(4) Age category medals (1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be awarded in each age category regardless of number of athletes entered or competing.
(5) Dates of Birth must be accurate and clear on entry forms for age category results.
(6) All athletes who compete in the championships MUST be current members of the scottishathletics Membership Scheme and be eligible to compete in the Masters Championships.
(7) An entered athlete must not be substituted by a non-entered athlete at any time.

North District X/C Success for Harriers

It was another great day for the Club at Spynie where the weather was kind and coarse conditions were favourable for some great races,the club amassed 14 individual medals and a team dominating performance of 8 golds and a bronze from a possible 10 team titles.

The U13 girls,U15 girls,U15 boys and U17 men continued their dominance this season all winning team golds and the U13 boys managed a hard thought bronze only losing out by the od…d point in making it a junior age group clean sweep.

This is a final reminder that the two month period of grace for the renewal of memberships expires on Monday 30th November. Thereafter, all membership rights for 2014-15 will cease and will not resume until renewal has been completed.

This means that anyone who has not renewed by this date will no longer be eligible to train at or compete for the club or take part in any other club activity.

Indications are that a significant number who are currently active within the club have not yet renewed their memberships. Forms are obtainable by clicking the link below

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the next round of club handicap races for both seniors and juniors over the Craig Dunain courses registration is at the club hut from 1pm with the junior race starting at 1.30pm and senior race strating just after the juniors have finished,race fee is £1 for juniors and £2 for seniors and if all those taking part could bring along sandwiches or cakes for after the races it would be much appreciated.

We always require volunteers to help with the marshalling of the junior race so if any parent fancies helping out then please let Grant Nairn know at the registration desk.
