28 / January / 2012 ------------------------------------ North District X-Country League It was another successful day for the Inverness team in Elgin this time with some tremendous individual and team success in all age groups.In the U11 girls race it was nearly a clean sweep with Josie Steele taking 1st place Charlotte Hill 3rd and Connie Campbell 4th and with Beth Maciver(8th)Jude Christensen(16th)Fiona Flockhart(29th)and Mhaira Nairn(30th)making up the other places it was a comfortable team victory over Moray and Forres Harriers.The U11 boys had a good 2nd place in the team race behind East Sutherland with Craig Wilson leading the way with a good 3rd place and Euan Macdonald(9th)Callum Tynam(10th)Pablo Alvarez-Icaza(11th)Jack Stirling(15th)and Matt Macfarlane taking up the other places for the team.The U13 girls and boys only had 4 runners in each team but it was good enough for the girls team to take 2nd place with Rachael Keith(7th)Mary Flockhart(8th)Megan Munro(9th)and Sophia Thom in 16th,for the boys Ali Velzian and James Geddes continued an impressive season with a 1st and 3rd place in with Joe Arnaud(7th)and Lewis Macfarlane(15th)helping to tie 1st with East Sutherland in the team race.Heather Campbell continued her good form winning the U15 girls race with Arianne Ross taking a good 6th place,the U15 boys were slightly off the pace with Andrew Johnstone(9th)being the first Harrier home with Cameron Lisle(10th)Gregor Maclennan(11th)and Paddy Macewen(12th)managing to take 2nd place in the team race behind a strong East Sutherland team.Mhari Maclennan continued her dominance in the U17 womens race taking 1st palce again to secure the District League Title but it was a clean sweep in the U17 mens race with Sean Chalmers taking 1st and the District Title,Finlay Maclennan taking 2nd and also securing 2nd place in the District League and Stuart Michael taking 3rd place on the day to take 1st place in the team race.The senior ladies continued their dominance with Melissa Whyte retaining her District League Title with another win making it five out five with one more race to go Roma Davidson(5th)Emma Atkinson(6th)Alison Wilson(8th)and Sue Cooper in 12th helped Inverness win the team race very comfortably.It was a better performance for the mens team this week with Alec Keith taking a very good 3rd place in a strong field with Paul Miller(7th) continuing his good form Andrew Macrae(15th)Stewart Wilson(25th)Graeme Campbell(31st)Alec Sutherland(34th)and George Mitchell(35th)all helping Inverness to a well deserved 3rd place in the team race just behind Forres Harriers and Highland Hill Runners.With only one more League match left to go in Nairn there are still medal chances in the team races and individual races to run for,the Inverness Club are hopeful of a good haul of medals coming North again this year. |
22 / January / 2012 ------------------------------------ Cross Country H/Cap Race It was a good turnout for the latest H/cap race this time over the Kinmylies course with 14 runners taking place on a cold but good afternoon.The honours went to a first time runner Fergus Macwilliam who completed the course in a time of 9 mins 53 secs with Jack Stirling(10 mins 19 secs) narrowly beating Craig Wilson(10 mins 20 secs)by a single second to second place,in the girls race Mary Flockhart continued her good form after injury taking 1st place in 10 mins 29 secs followed by Connie Campbell(10 mins 49 secs)in 2nd Jude Christensen(10 mins 51 secs) in 3rd and Fiona flockhart taking 4th place in 11 mins 13 secs.The two fasest boys nett times of the day went to Gregor Maclennan in 8 mins 4 secs and James Geddes in 8 mins 10 secs with Mary Flockhart producing the fastest girls nett time in 8 mins 37 secs.This leaves one more H/Cap race to run on the 26th of February with it combining as the Club Championships race aswell. |
8 / January / 2012 ------------------------------------ X Country Handicap race It was a small turn out for the 3rd leg of the X-Country Handicap race with only 8 runners taking part but it certainly didnt detract from the quality of running with a first time runner Jack Stirling leading home the runners.The girls results were 3rd place Mary Flockhart 9 mins 10 secs,2nd Connie campbell 9 mins 03 secs and the winner in a time of 8 mins 58 secs was Fiona Flockhart.The boys results were 5th James Geddes in 8 mins 57 secs,4th Finlay Saunders 8 mins 52 secs,3rd Paul Wilby 8 mins 48 secs,2nd Gregor Maclennan 8 mins 38 secs and the winner Jack Stirling in 8 mins 32 secs.The fastest nett times were Gregor Maclennan for the boys in 6 mins 28 secs and fastest girl was Mary Flockhart in 7 mins 05 secs.The next race will take part on the 22nd of January over the Kinmylies course meeting at the club hut at 1pm for registration thanks again to all the marshalls,time keepers and tea ladies for giving up their time on a cold day. |

13 / January / 2012 ------------------------------------ Australians Looking for Accommodation Our friends from `Down Under` The Australian Junior Athletic Touring Team are intending coming back again this year in July. However due to ever increasing costs of accommodation at this time in Inverness this is making it difficult for them to confirm any reservations. Are there any parents out there that might be willing to put up 1 or 2 for 3 nights on 6th, 7th and 8th July. There are about 12 in the party total. 4 / January / 2012 ------------------------------------ Next Track Session There will be a track session avalable for athletes on Thursday 5th January 2012 commencing 7pm. This includes the U11 and U14 groups. Next week we will revert to our normal winter routine - on Tuesday 10th January we will be at the track and on Thursday 12th we will be at Millburn Academy, both 7pm starts. |
